IN THE CLOUDS
08.03.24 - 14.07.24
This project was developed for the immersive children’s art space at Latrobe Regional Gallery known as “The Lane.” Designed to spark imagination, curiosity and exploration, the space changes with each seasonal exhibition programme to reflect the themes throughout the exhibitions, tailored to a younger audience. IN THE CLOUDS recreates a sky space, inviting children to look up, dream big and explore the endless possibilities of the sky as a metaphor for envisioning the future.
Presented during the PHOTO 2024 festival with the overarching theme of “The Future Is Shaped by Those Who Can See it,” IN THE CLOUDS responded to this idea by offering a creative and inclusive space for children to imagine, make and dream. Centring young people as visionaries in their own right, the space encouraged participants to explore how they see the world now and in the future through various activities and prompts.
Drawing inspiration from the poetic and ever-shifting qualities of clouds, the space welcomed reflection on change and the freedom of looking upward and beyond. As clouds drift, morph and invite interpretation, so too does the imagination of a child; fluid, playful and full of potential.
